Survey Technician
Full-time, Lower Hutt
We’re looking for an Experienced Survey Technician or Graduate to join our Lower Hutt team and support the delivery of accurate, high-quality survey work. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has practical field experience, enjoys working outdoors, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in precise measurement and data capture.
You’ll assist with Survey preparation, site surveys and data collection across a variety of projects. This role is ideal for someone looking to build on their technical field experience with a supportive team.
What you’ll be doing
- You will have the opportunity to work on and manage surveying projects from planning through to delivery.
- Complete field surveys including topographical, cadastral, set-out and as-built surveys.
- Operate survey equipment such as GPS, total stations, scanners and digital levels.
- Ensure survey data is captured accurately and meets project requirements.
- Process survey data and preparing survey plans and documentation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve site issues as they arise.
- Maintain equipment and ensuring it is used safely and correctly.
- Follow health and safety requirements on all sites.
Ideally you will have:
- A New Zealand Degree or Diploma in Surveying or working towards one.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in surveying.
- Exposure to 12d software for surveying – training can be provided.
- Experience in preparing landonline datasets.
- Proficient in using GPS and total stations.
- Familiarity with Bricsad/Autocad draughting software.
- A strong attention to detail.
- A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
- A valid NZ Driver’s License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- An understanding of land development and civil construction projects.
